than 80 percent of Emma Willard students take
a leadership role at some point during their time here. Some
students become senior proctors, chosen for their ability to lead,
support, inspire, and guide. There are 15 boarding proctors
(one on each residence hall) and a representative number of day proctors,
all of whom participate in extensive training. Similarly, a corps of
peer educators provides one-on-one counsel, as well as community-wide
education on social and emotional issues of importance. Additionally,
there are class officers and club and team leaders—positions held
by day students and boarders alike.
