nformation regarding the closing or delayed opening of school because of inclement weather or other extraordinary circumstances will be broadcast on television channels 10 (WTEN) and 13 (WNYT) and these radio stations: WGNA 107.7 FM, WGY 810 AM, WFLY 92.3 FM, WQBK 1300 AM & 103.9 FM, WTRY 980 AM, and WROW 590 AM.
Please keep in mind that Emma Willard School is a boarding school with over 60 percent of our students living on campus. We may, therefore, remain open when other area schools are closed because of snow and icy roads. We ask that parents use their discretion about driving and allowing their daughters to drive under wintery conditions. Your daughter’s absence under these circumstances will be excused; however, she will be responsible for making up class work, tests, and homework assignments. When snow is predicted, please remind your daughter that she should be prepared to work at home (with books, assignments, etc.). She can contact a member of her class to get her homework assignments. Should you decide to keep your daughter home because of driving conditions, it is necessary to notify the Student Services Office at 833-1500 of her absence by 9:00 a.m.
