Head's Advisory Council
he Head’s Advisory Council was formed in 2008. Members of this group, with vast and varied expertise in a number of areas, serve as informal advisors to the head of school on any number of issues.
Katherine Chon, co-founder of Polaris Project. Polaris Project is committed to combating human trafficking and modern day slavery and to strengthening the anti-trafficking movement through a comprehensive approach. Katherine has been involved in stewarding all aspects of Polaris Project’s growth, operations, and programs.
Elizabeth Colton ’66, founder and Board Chair, International Museum of Women. Elizabeth is the driving force behind the International Museum of Women, whose mission is to value the lives of women around the world by amplifying the voices of women through history, the arts and cultural programs that educate, create dialogue, build community, and inspire action.
Ann Cotton OBE, founder and Executive Director of Camfed International. Camfed’s vision is of a world in which every child is educated, protected, respected and valued, and grows up to turn the tide of poverty.
Christel DeHaan, President and founder of Christel House International. The mission of Christel House International is to help children around the world break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient, contributing members of their societies.
Dina Dublon, former executive vice president and chief financial officer at JP Morgan Chase. A trustee of Carnegie Mellon University, she also serves on the boards of Microsoft, Accenture, World Links, the Global Fund for Women, and the Women’s Commission for Refugee Women and Children.
Jessica Jackley Flannery, co-founder, Kiva.org. Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend directly to an entrepreneur in the developing world. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending. By 2010, Kiva will have facilitated loans totaling $100 million.
Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D., Dr. Jackson is the 18th president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Prior to her leadership of Rensselaer, Dr. Jackson was Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Dr. Jackson holds a Ph.D. in theoretical elementary particle physics from M.I.T. (1973) and a S.B. in physics from M.I.T. (1968).
Katty Kay, BBC News Correspondent. Katty Kay is a Washington based correspondent for BBC News and regularly anchors The Evening News programs seen on BBC World. Ms. Kay’s broadcast journalism career spans more than 15 years and 4 continents.
Neelam Mehta ’93, founder, Click-Aid. Founded in 2002, Click-Aid is a nonprofit organization that collects and organizes obsolete and unwanted computer technology and donates the equipment to groups and charities in underdeveloped nations around the world.
Lyne Pitts ’72, former Vice President, NBC News, Ms. Pitts is an Emmy-award winning producer and veteran network news executive.
Sara Lubin Schupf ’58, philanthropist and former spokesperson for Sara Lee Baking. Today, Mrs. Schupf devotes her time to the advancement of women and girls in science.
Jane Wales ’66, President and CEO of the World Affairs Council of Northern California, headquartered in San Francisco. She is co-founder of the Global Philanthropy Forum (GPF), a path-breaking and fast-growing network of donors and social investors committed to international causes.
Michaela Walsh, was a member of the Founding Committee of Women’s World Banking (WWB), and served as the organization's Founding President from 1975 to 1990. Ms. Walsh serves on the boards of several organizations, and has been a member of the WWB Board of Trustees since its inception in 1979.
